What is 3D Fat Graft?

Original 2D fat graft is a method of implanting fat only on one layer of subcutaneous fat, muscle, or periosteum. Is fat transfer permanent? How long will it last?

Engraftment after auto graft is permanent. Its survival rate may vary depending on each individual, as differences can be caused from the surgical site, injection amount, fat collection, fat division, or injection method. About 60-80% shows engraftment, and PRP (platelet rich plasma) from self blood is being used to increase its survival rate.

Even well engrafted fat may be changed due to changes in body such as weight gain and loss. Also, due to aging (loss of fat volume), volume may diminish as time goes by.

Where is the fat collected from?

Autologous fat can be collected from any body parts, but mostly it is collected from back/side thighs, as even skinny people have certain fat in their thighs. The procedure of collecting fat is somewhat similar to liposuction. Hence it lessens the volume of the collected area which means it can be effective to lessen the fat on a body part.
