Street food in Korea
There are various and numerous street foods in Korea.
They are beloved until now, as they are cheap but delicious.
1. Tteokbokki
Tteokbokki is one of the most popular street food in Korea.
It is made from soft rice cake, fish cake and sweet red chili sauce.
You can enjoy any time of the year, as it is easily found in all seasons.
2. Sundae
Sundae (pronounced as soon-dae) is made generally by boiling or
steaming cow or pig's intestines that are stuffed with various ingredients.
It is a kind of blood sausage and believed to have been eaten for a long time.
Mostly eaten together with Tteokbokki.
Another similar version of Tteokbokki, which is in skewers.
Usually the rice cake is fried in Tteok kochi, and they are not as spicy as Tteokbokki.
5. Twigim
Twigims are made by deep frying dried vegetables or seaweed that have been coated with chapssalpul. (glutinous rice paste)
They are also sold with Tteokbokki, as they make good combination and good taste.
6. Dak Kkochi
Dak = Chicken. Dak Kkochi means chicken in skewers.

7. Hot dog
This is Korean style hot dog, which is quite different from common hot dogs that we know.
Korean hot dog is very simple, there is a sausage inside and it is covered with fried wheat flour.
Tomato ketchup should be "always" put.
8. Beondegi
Beondegi literally means "chrysalis" or "pupa" in Korean, Beondegi are steamed or boiled silkworm pupae which are seasoned and eaten as a snack.
They may seem to be gross, but they are tasty and nutritious.
9. Potato Twister
This "tornado" potato is recently spotted, which is a snack made out of potato.
Its shape is like a tornado, so it is called as "tornado potato" in Korean.
10. Ho tteok
The dough for hotteok is made from wheat flour, water, milk, sugar, and yeast.
The dough is allowed to rise for several hours. Handful-sized balls of this stiff dough are filled with
a sweet mixture, which may contain brown sugar, honey, chopped peanuts, and cinnamon.
The filled dough is then placed on a greased griddle, and pressed flat into a large circle with a special tool with a stainless steel circle and wooden handle as it cooks.
10. Bungeo ppang
Bungeoppangs are fish shaped pastry, prepared using an appliance similar to a waffle iron.
The batter is poured into a fish-shaped mold, red bean paste is added, then more batter to
encase the red bean paste. The mold is then closed, and roasted.
Its sweet and delicious flavor is very attractive especially during winter.
10. Gukhwa ppang
Similar food and similar method of preparation to bungeoppang.
Its shape is like chrysanthemum, (flower) hence the name itself is "chrysanthemum bread".
10. Ho ppang
Ho ppang is a pre-cooked ball of rice flour filled with something such as red bean paste.
They are steamed to be kept warm, which are also very famous for winter snacks.
Its original flavor was just red bean paste, and it got upgraded as time passed.
There are now various flavors of Ho ppang, just like pizza or vegetable ones as well.
